As a former university librarian turned freelance writer, editor, and critique specialist, my mission is to (1) assist writers to reach their potential as published authors by helping them polish their writing, fiction or nonfiction, of any genre, length, or format; and (2) provide editing, copy writing, and ghostwriting services to individuals or companies who need content.
As an eclectic scholar with degrees in classical studies, theater arts, library science, and organizational communication, my writing, ghostwriting, and editing have included works on the above disciplines as well as architecture, Christian theology, history, biography, psychology, the humanities, and the social sciences.

Cleaning up and polishing your manuscript interior.
The critique requires reading the entire manuscript and providing feedback on all aspects of the story—plot, characters, setting—with particular attention on how the story works as a whole, and whether—or how—the storytelling or nonfiction prose might be strengthened.
A second reading of the manuscript can find specific scenes, characters, or plot devices that detract from the main story. Questions I ask: Is this scene really necessary to the story? What additional information might the reader need to understand the whole picture? Does the narration flow smoothly? Are there any changes in the names or appearances of characters or places? Are there any factual errors in the content?
Often when we write, we do not notice the shortcuts we take as the story flows out of us. The line edit is to fix the mechanical issues of grammar and syntax, such as run-on sentences/paragraphs, appropriate verb tenses, and dialogue punctuation.
Preparing your manuscript for either submission or publication.
Whether you plan to self-publish or submit your manuscript to a publisher, it will require formatting. I can format your book interior to be ready for self-publishing, or match the required submission guidelines of the company to which you plan to submit any manuscript.
For self-publishing a book, I can use your artwork, or appropriate found artwork, to create a mock up of your cover design. (See my slideshow above.)
This will be a final read-through of your manuscript interior and cover to fix everything missed along the way, such as typos, indentations, and spacing.
I self publish via Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). This is a multi-step process: (1) If you do not already have a KDP account, I will talk you through setting one up; (2) I will upload your interior using your login, and download the dimensions for your cover; (3) I will create the final cover, and upload it; (4) After previewing your book online, I will order a proof copy, so I can do a final review and upload any needed changes.
I will be happy to send you my resume and writing portfolio per your request.
